FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK
2009 is our Year of Outreach. As a community of God, we want to strengthen ourselves in two areas: Build up and Reach out.
We seek to be built-up in Christ. Jesus invites us to focus on Him. It is only in receiving and abiding in Him that we are disciples. There is a difference between ‘being in the world for Christ’ and ‘being in Christ for the world’. One is ‘doing’; the other, ‘being’. We hope to ‘be’ disciples who are rooted, built-up, and strengthened in the faith. (Col 2:6-7)
We reach out for Christ. Reaching out will flow out of our building up in Christ. Rather than storage reservoirs, Jesus calls us to be channels of God’s grace. Our lives must overflow into service and ministry. Jesus said, “As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” (Jn 20:21) We are people with a mission. As we have been blessed, we are to be His blessing to others.
In 2009, we have these events to help us meet our 2 emphases:
Good Friday (10 Apr) and Christmas (25 Dec) Evangelistic Services – Excellent opportunities to invite non-believers.
• Daily quiet time
• Weekly worship services
• Care group/Small group Bible studies
• Scripture memoryMinistry Fair (17 May) – A platform to introduce our worshippers to ministries and needs and provide opportunities for service and commitment.
Alpha Course (1 Jul - 31 Sep) – An opportunity for members to invite friends and loved ones to know more about Christianity. Outreach Conference (28-29 Aug) – A conference to equip us for more effective outreach in the market-place, cross-cultural ministry, creatively relating to non-Christians, overcoming barriers to sharing the Gospel and seeing the world as our parish. Dr David Geisler is our main speaker
Christmas Outreach – An outreach initiative to encourage CGs, families, fellowship groups to host evangelistic parties during the month of December, using MyHopeSingapore materials.

In this Year of Outreach, we want to encourage each of you to commit to:

• At least one non-believer to Pray for and Connect withMay God’s grace be upon us as we seek to build up and reach out for Him.
