Making
disciples.
A Care Group is like a second family, a
spiritual family. It is more than a social group, an interest
group or a meeting to study bible. It is a place where the process
of caring, nurturing and growth takes place in a non-threatening environment.
Spiritual
parenting.
The leader of each Care Group is akin to a spiritual parent who disciples
his members in a safe and nurturing environment. The Apostle Paul
spoke of his conviction and commitment to the church in Thessalonica
as a spiritual parent: “You know how we lived among you
for your sake. You became imitators of us and of the Lord to all believers
in Macedonia and Achaia.” (1 Thessalonians 1:5b-7)
Authentic
fellowship
In the real fellowship of Care Group, people experience authenticity.
Authentic fellowship is not superficial, surface-level chit-chat.
It is genuine, heart to heart, sometimes gut-level sharing. It happens
when people get honest about who they are and what is happening in
their lives. They share their hurts, reveal their feelings, confess
their failures, disclose their doubts, admit their fears, acknowledge
their weaknesses, and ask for help and prayer. Authentic fellowship
is what we need in our church community today
