The Christian Outreach and Social Concerns Ministry (CO&SC) is the social outreach arm of the Church. Through our activities, Church members are given opportunities to share the love of God in practical ways.

Jesus taught us a great truth that shows how close the poor and needy are to His heart:

"I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers, you did for me." Matthew 25:40

It doesn't take much to be involved but a heart that seeks to obey God's great commandmant of loving God and loving others as ourselves.

Always remember that "we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do" (Ephesians 2:10).

Blood Donation Drives
Christ shed His blood for us, so why not give a little of ours to save the lives of others? Our Committee organises regular
blood donation drives. To make every collection worth the effort of mobilizing the Blood Collection Team, at least 40 bags of blood are needed. We encourage all care groups to volunteer to facilitate our blood donation drives and of course be donors.

Financial Aid & Bursaries
We provide financial aid to needy individuals (walk in cases, TRANS Centre and Block 45) and bursaries to needy students from Geylang Methodist Secondary School and Bedok South Secondary School.

Methodist Welfare Services (MWS) Flag Day
MWS is the primary Social Concerns arm of the Methodist Church. We support MWS by mobilizing volunteers to sell flags on MWS Flag Day each year. Care Gps & families have taken this opportunity to come together in service.

Befriending Families
Apart from merely providing financial help, volunteers are sought to befriend those we help. We need members to befriend these families to put a human touch to the financial aid given.

Visits to the Moral Home for the Aged Sick
During festive seasons, CO&SC partners with the Dance Ministry & the 8.30am Choir to bring cheer to the residents through song and dance performances. Volunteers help feed and talk to residents. Some of the more mobile residents have since started attending our Sunday services! Volunteers are needed to bring these residents to BMC on Sundays and attending to them.

Ration Collection for TRANS Centre & HIV Patient Care Centres
These Centres provide social and financial support to needy families. We support these 2 Centres through bi-yearly collection of rations. Bibles verses are pasted on the rations to provide the message of God's love. Cash donations collected are used to buy NTUC vouchers or special rations that are needed by the 2 centres. Volunteers also help out by packing rations and at times, distribution.

Prison Ministry
Volunteer counselors are needed to work closely with Prison Fellowship to bring light into the lives of inmates who have lived life in darkness. If you have the training or interest, we encourage you to volunteer your services in this area.

Crisis Relief Work
In recent years, the number of natural disasters that have struck the region have risen. Apart from financial support, volunteers are needed at short notice to respond to the call for relief work in partnership with Christian organizations.

Volunteer Quotes

Edward Fang, regular CO&SC Volunteer: "Just as God has blessed me so abundantly with a great family, good health, good job, which is not by my effort but by His Grace, it is only right that I be a good steward of what is given me and obey what Jesus has told us to do - to help the least of our brothers. Oh..also, I really enjoy doing it."

When Jac & Eddie Liew were asked why they are CO&SC volunteers, they replied: "simple…because it is God’s commandment to love our neighbours as ourselves. We have been blessed by God and participating in CO&SC activities is a privilege as it enables us to share God's blessings with others. It also helps us to impart right Christian values to our children when we do it as a family."

Yes, it really is that simple… what's holding you back from volunteering with CO&SC?
