Walk
In A Manner Worthly Of Your Calling
Scripture Text: Ephesians
4:1 And Ephesians
5:1-17
Introduction
In Ephesians 4:1, the Apostle Paul entreats us, the
Body of Christ to walk in a manner worthy of our calling.
In the NIV version Paul says “I urge you to live
a life worthy of the calling you have received”.
How then do we walk in a way that is worthy of our calling?
In Ephesians 5: 1-17, the passage commands us to walk
in the following three manners.
1)
Walk in Love – Relate to the Person of Christ
2) Walk as Children of God – Recognise your Position
3) Walk as Wise Men – Regain your Position (SHAPE)
Walk
In Love – Relate To The Person Of Christ
To be able to walk in love, we need to love Jesus. As
we desire to love Him more, He will fill our hearts
with love and joy like no one else can. He satisfies
all our longings. As we draw closer to Him, He will
draw closer to us. He will reveal Himself to us and
we come to see and learn the attributes of Christ and
discover for ourselves the deep love He has for us.
Walk
As Children Of God – Recognise Your Position
In John 1: 5-9, we learn that God is light, and in Him
there is no darkness at all. As He is light we should
also walk in the light and the blood of Jesus cleanses
us from all sins.
Walk
As Wise Men – Regain Your Position
In Psalm 1: 1-3 the psalmist tells us how to walk as
wise men. We should not be influenced by evil-doers
but delight and meditate on God’s Word as It grounds
us firmly in His truth and directs us to live a full
and abundant life.
Prayer
Response
Dear Lord Jesus, Thank your for the love you have for
me. May I walk in love and be a shining light to those
around me. May I walk a life worthy of the calling you
have called upon me to do. Amen
