THE
CHRIST OF CHRISTMAS
Scripture Text: John
1:14
We
Are The Reason
Christ came to save us, a lost people. This is the reason for
Christmas. John 1:14 is a promise from God the Father that He
will send a Messiah to save us. In Latin, Christmas means the
worship of Christ. Whenever God wanted to show Himself to His
people before Christ came, He would appear in the Tabernacle.
However, today, Jesus is the word, made flesh - Jesus shows
us God in reality.
God’s
Grace and Truth
God’s character is about grace and truth. God knows and
cares for us. The Bible says that God looks after the sparrows.
Sparrows are nervous birds because they are small creatures.
They peck on the ground and they quickly fly away when they
sense even the slightest threat. Many of us are also nervous
creatures.
We,
too, have many concerns and stresses that add up to make us
a people of worries. Many of us are generally, nervous about
many things. God, who looks after sparrows that are small and
insignificant, is able and willing to restore us. This is God’s
grace.
Truth
is also important. In this day and age since it is hard to trust
anyone. However, God says that He is the truth and that no one
enters heaven except through Jesus Christ. We can trust that
what God says is true. John Wesley saw many great revivals in
his day and many times, was instrumental in facilitating them.
On his deathbed, he proclaimed that the best of all he had and
seen was still God because he was so certain of the truth of
God.
Jesus’
name is also Emmanuel which means “God with us”.
What does Christ mean to you?
Conclusion
God
is truth and grace. We can trust Him at His word and depend
on His grace.
Prayer
Response
Dear Lord Jesus, I want to thank you for providing a way for
me to be saved. I pray that you will remind me daily of the
many spiritual things that you have blessed me with. Help me,
knowing that my life has been redeemed by Christ, to lead a
God centered life. Amen
