Devotional For the Week 18th October 2004

PRAYING FOR OUR CHILDREN ACCORDING TO GOD’S WORD

Fear of God (Proverbs 3:7)
____________ (name of child) will not be wise in his/her own eyes, he/she will fear the Lord and shun evil.

Trust in the Lord (Proverbs 3:5-6)
____________ (name of child) will trust in the Lord with all his/her heart and lean not on his/her own understanding; in all his/her ways he/she will acknowledge Him and He will direct his/her path.

Repentance (Acts 3:19)
____________ (name of child) will repent and turn to the Lord so that his/her sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.

Protection (Psalm 121:7-8)
The Lord shall preserve ___________ (name of child) from all evil; He shall preserve his/her soul. The Lord shall preserve his/her going out and coming in from this time forth and forevermore.

Teachable spirit (Proverbs 1:8)
My son/daughter will hear the instruction of his/her father and will not forsake the teaching of his/her mother.

Honouring parents (Exodus 20:12)
My son/daughter will honour his/her father and mother, so that he/she may live long in the land the Lord his/her God is giving him/her.

Godly friends (Psalm 119:63)
My son/daughter is a companion of all who fear the Lord, and of those who keep God’s precepts.

Knowledge and understanding (Daniel 1:17)
To my son/daughter God gave knowledge and understanding of all kinds of literature and learning.

Resisting ungodliness (Titus 2:12)
My son/daughter says “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and live a selfcontrolled, upright and godly life.

God’s plan for my child (Jeremiah 29:11)
Lord, You know the plans You have for my son/daughter, plans to prosper him/her and not to harm him/her, plans to give him/her hope and a future.
