Devotional For the Week 4th April 2005

Everything’s Got a Purpose
Scripture Text: Psalm 139:14

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well. Psalm 139:14

Nothing in life is without purpose.

Nobody designs something without a use for it. All design begins because there is a need to create something – so as to fulfill a purpose!

God is the Creator of this world – and everything He made – He designed. This means that there is thoughtful planning before construction takes place. There is a purpose for everything He has made!

Examine every part of your body – there’s a purpose for it. It just depends on whether you’ve found it yet.

Let’s look at some of the parts of our body which many of us don’t even pay much attention to. Your eyebrows: they divert sweat from your eyes. Your nostril hairs: they trap dirt. Your toes: each one of them aids in your balance and movement. The least of them all are just as important!

Likewise, very often – we look at ourselves and wonder what God can do through lousy old us. Yet the Psalmist says, you are “fearfully and wonderfully made.” Everything that God has designed has a purpose, including you!

In the words of Pastor Bill Wilson of Metropolitan Ministries – lead pastor of what is arguably the world’s largest children’s church – ‘God is looking for availability and not ability’.

Response

Dear friend, won’t you see that you are worth much in God’s sight and that He desires you to live according to the purpose He has designed you for? May you give your all to Him today.

- Ps Joel Yong
