Bedok Methodist Preschool Curriculum

Lessons are taught with learning areas integrated through interesting and relevant themes.

By providing contextualisation through stories and hands-on activities, the concepts taught are made meaningful for children.

Numeracy
Children explore mathematical concepts such as counting, sequencing, sorting, grouping, visual discrimination, simple addition and subtraction, value of money and concept of time by being an active and engaged participant. Hands-on engagement materials provided in the learning corners or in small groups.

Social & Emotional Development
After being grounded in sound moral values and pro-social skills through stories, children are provided with many opportunities to practise these skills in the role-play stations and through daily interactions with their teachers and classmates.

Discovery of the World
Our curriculum aims to stimulate children to become curious about their environment and encourages questioning, hypothesising and predicting tendencies and behaviour. Inquiry-based lessons and hands-on activities are designed to develop observation and recording skills and make sense of the world around them.

Motor Skills Development
Fine and gross motor dexterity, balance, and eye-hand coordination are essential skills that enable children to become independent in daily living. Our programme recognises this important area of development by featuring a balanced curriculum.

Aesthetics & Creative Expression
Children will be exposed to a range of musical experiences that are aimed to raise their aesthetic awareness and appreciation. Elements of art are taught through an art curriculum in a creative manner.

Enrichment Programme
We have Enrichment programme and they are available before and after school:
• Chinese Speech and Drama: Nursery to K2
• Art: Nursery to K2
